Best Selling Electric Weed Eater – Black & Decker NST2018 Grass Hog 12-Inch 18-Volt Cordless Electric String Trimmer

Every March as the sun starts to come out I can’t wait to get out in the yard and get it cleaned up. If your neighborhood is anything like mine it seems like there is always a competition going on for who has the nicest looking yard. It’s something that none of us talk about when we see each other, but we know this silent war is going on. This last March, I went to pull out one of my chorded heavy duty weed eaters along with the extra long extension cord which I have been using for the last 10 years. However, when I looked across the street and saw my neighbor Dean and noticed he wasn’t using any cords, it got me thinking. This is what led me to purchase the Grass Hog Cordless Electric String Trimmer Best Selling Electric Weed Eater Black & Decker NST2018 Grass Hog 12 Inch 18 Volt Cordless Electric String Trimmer by Black & Decker.

Features - It’s a 12 inch cordless string trimmer that comes with 2 18 V batteries, we’ll talk about the batteries later in this review. It comes with a telescoping shaft, weighs nearly 7 pounds, and came with a two-year warranty.

Price $99 – At just under 100 bucks it was definitely worth giving it a try. I think the price is fairly reasonable even though it does have some limitations.

What I like – This one is obvious, it is so relaxing being able to work out in the yard without having to deal with extension cords. While I usually don’t spend more than 30 to 60 minutes at a time grooming my yard, it was perfect for me because of the convenience.

What don’t I like – Unfortunately you will not be able to do anything to thick with this electric weed eater as it is not as heavy duty as your typical corded weed eater. Also, if you plan on spending a couple hours doing your front yard and backyard you’ll be lucky if you get through it using both batteries. This has not been a problem for me as like I said earlier I usually tackle the yard one step at a time.

Would I buy this product again? While I’ve only had this cordless weed eater for about a month and a half, it has been perfect for what I need it for and I have not run into any problems. With that being said I can honestly say that I would definitely buy this weed eater again.

Top Pick Gas Weed Eater – Hitachi CG22EABSLP 21.1cc 2 Stroke Gas Powered Curved Shaft Grass Trimmer

When it comes to weed eaters some people prefer corded, some prefer electric, and some prefer a gas weed eater. This is the case of my dad, he likes the idea of not having to use a cord but still likes some extra power while ripping through the brush. He has had many gas powered weed eaters and his most recent purchase was the CG22EABSLP 21.1cc 2 Stroke Gas Powered Curved Shaft Grass Trimmer by Hitachi Top Pick Gas Weed Eater Hitachi CG22EABSLP 21.1cc 2 Stroke Gas Powered Curved Shaft Grass Trimmer. While over there last weekend I had the luxury of giving this particular unit my own test of quality. That’s what led me to write this review.

It has a 21.1cc commercial grade engine along with what they call an S-start which I honestly didn’t notice much but it says that in their product listing. It supposedly reduces the pull force by 50% when starting. I didn’t notice any problems with starting it seemed to have started right up. It also has an anti-vibration system which I did notice and was impressed with. It holds 13 feet of cutting line and has a 4 inch semi-automatic head.

Price – Well he spent a little over $200 for the unit however I don’t believe he bought it online which the going price right now is $179.99. I think that this price is definitely fair for the quality of workmanship that was put into this unit. It also comes with a seven year consumer warranty which makes the price even better.

What I like about it - After testing this unit I really liked the feel of it in my hands. It seemed to be a little bit heavier than most electric weed eaters, but any time you’re using a gas weed eater you can expect that. There was enough power to cut through thick brush and I didn’t have to worry about putting gas in it again for the entire time I spent dinking around with it.

What would I change? Overall, I didn’t notice anything about it that I would change. It has commercial use and it seems powerful enough for that purpose, but it’s also perfect for the ordinary consumer.

Would I buy again? Well considering I never bought it in the first place I can’t give an honest opinion on that. I can tell you that the old man is pleased with this gas weed eater and I had a pretty enjoyable time using the unit myself. If in the future I plan on getting a gas weed eater, then this would most likely be the whacker of choice.
